About Josh
Josh has been in construction since he was 15 years old. His father was a contractor, and Josh grew up riding along on jobs, learning the trades, and helping out from a young age. That foundation — being on a job site before he was old enough to drive — shaped how he thinks about the work.
After his early years in construction, Josh moved to Alaska and worked construction for the oil companies there before eventually coming back home to Oregon and getting into roofing. He’s now been in roofing for about 16 years.
When he was younger, Josh installed every kind of roofing system you can think of — asphalt shingles, flat roofing, TPO, specialty metal, tile, and more. As his body got more worn down from years of field work, he transitioned into estimating and project management, where he spent roughly 9 years before we started Raven Roofing together.
That combination — actual hands-on installation experience plus a decade of running projects — is what makes Josh genuinely valuable on every job. He understands building products, roof systems, job sequencing, and complex technical details at a level very few people in this market can match.
Outside the job site
Josh is a proud Oregonian, married, and has four kids. He loves fishing for salmon, crabbing and clamming on the coast, and taking his kids to sports practices.
He’s joyful, detail-oriented, and relationship-focused. He pays attention to the small details on every job and genuinely enjoys building relationships with homeowners. He has a great ability to enjoy the moment while still holding a high standard for the work — which is the kind of person you want running production on your roof.
Josh’s role at Raven Roofing
Josh focuses on production, field operations, technical details, and making sure every project is built correctly. He’s the one mapping out the work before the crew gets to your house, the one solving the problem when something unexpected shows up during tear-off, and the one our crews look to when a tricky detail needs to be done right.
If you have a roof with complex transitions, unusual flashing details, a design-focused look, or a problem that’s stumped other contractors — Josh is the kind of project manager you want on the job.
Working with Aaron
Aaron and Josh are a great balance. Aaron focuses heavily on business operations, customer experience, systems, and communication. Josh focuses heavily on production, field operations, technical details, and making sure projects are built correctly.
Both of us care deeply about family, relationships, craftsmanship, and doing work we can be proud of. We also like to joke around and have fun while doing great work. Our goal is to build incredible roofs, pay attention to every detail, and create a company homeowners enjoy working with.
What Josh wants homeowners to know
Most roofing problems aren’t visible from the ground. A roof can look fine from the driveway and still have nailing patterns that void the manufacturer warranty, ventilation that’s slowly cooking the shingles from underneath, or flashing details that are going to leak the next time the wind blows from the wrong direction.
Good roofing is a system, not a surface. Pay attention to the details that matter — the ones underneath — and you end up with a roof that lasts. Skip them, and you end up calling someone like us five years later.
